92. Al-Lail - The Night
| 1 | I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, |
| 2 | And the day when it shines in all its glory, |
| 3 | And Him who created the male and female, |
| 4 | That your endeavour is for different ends. |
| 5 | Yet he who gives to others and has fear, |
| 6 | And affirms goodness, |
| 7 | We shall ease the way of fortune for him. |
| 8 | But he who does not give and is unconcerned, |
| 9 | And rejects goodness, |
| 10 | For him We shall ease the way of adversity, |
| 11 | And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). |
| 12 | It is indeed for Us to show the way, |
| 13 | And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. |
| 14 | So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. |
| 15 | No one will burn in it but the most wretched, |
| 16 | Who denied (the truth) and turned away. |
| 17 | But save him who fears |
| 18 | And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, |
| 19 | And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, |
| 20 | Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, |
| 21 | Will surely be gratified. |
